Job Title: Vice President, Finance and Business Operations
General Summary of Duties: The Vice President is generally responsible for overseeing and directing the various support organizations responsible for the successful attainment of the medical group’s financial and operational goals as defined by the Executive Vice President of SDI Management and President of SDI Medical Group.
The Vice President ties together the various disciplines within the organization to provide efficient, profitable, and user friendly support to the organization and its business partners. This position works in tandem with the Executive Director over Outpatient Operations, and with the Medical Group Finance committee.
Five Directors and Managers shall directly report to the Vice President. These are:
Director, Finance & Controller
Director, Information Technology
Manager, Human Resources
Manager, Contracts and Health Care Compliance
The Vice President shall be responsible for the management and oversight of these Directors, Managers, and their organizations as they support the physician practice and outpatient centers.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
Ensure that communication, accountability, proper financial control, and standard procedure is maintained between accounting, human resources, IT and the operational entities regarding payroll and accounts payable.
Oversee the ongoing analysis of budget variances and directly assists the various Directors, Managers, and Physician Leaders in implementing operational changes needed to achieve budgeted goals.
Provide financial leadership and guidance to Directors, Managers, and Physician Leaders on financial matters, and provides routine feedback regarding department performance.
Provide financial expertise in providing new services and adding additional physicians, outpatient sites in both the in-patient and outpatient setting, including preparation of pro-formas.
Oversee all fiscal activities, including accounting, payroll, budgets, audits, and ensures the systems and procedures necessary to ensure and maintain efficient financial controls are in place.
Oversee the revenue cycle, ensuring that charges are posted, claims are sent, denials are appealed, cash is posted, and adjustments are made in both a timely and accurate manner in accordance with our contractual relationships and guidelines.
Monitor denial patterns in the revenue cycle to identify problems within our operations that must be corrected or adjusted to maximize revenue. Communicate and partner with appropriate Directors and Managers in the organization to ensure maximized revenue.
Oversee and directs payer contract management, negotiation, documentation, and communication/coordination with the revenue cycle operation. Verifies that contracting and other business development will ensure collected revenue maximization. Confirms that payer rates and terms follow policy originating from the Executive Vice President and President of SDI Medical Group.
Oversee the preparation annual financial and compensation budgets for the Medical Group (in each of its Divisions), Outpatient Centers, and Management Company.
Ensure that monthly financial statements are completed timely and accurately, all balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis and in compliance with policies and standards, and that any outstanding variances are identified and corrected timely.
Lead the human resources activities in establishing strategies and department accountability for talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, labor law compliance, and labor relations.
Support executive management in the interdisciplinary evaluation of benefit selection that supports the business objectives of SDI. Oversees the human resources staff in managing the roll out and on-going administration of benefits to physician owners and employees.
Oversee the Human Resources manager for providing expert resource to managers regarding probationary review, annual performance evaluations, salary adjustments, recruitment/hiring, employee discipline/counseling and employment termination. Ensures that proper standards are kept.
Oversee the selection of insurance coverage, including malpractice, and claims related to all coverage.
Oversee the compliance programs, both in Labor Compliance and Compliance with Health Care law (both State and Federal).
Oversee support and implementation activity in the Information Technology group.
Become an active participant in receiving requirements from outpatient operations and physicians, and oversee the satisfaction of those requirements by Information Technology. Become a champion for initiatives originating within Information Technology to stakeholders throughout the company when those initiative show return on investment, efficiency improvement, and / or enhance service for the operation.
Evaluate Information Technology requests and initiatives for service improvement and return on investment with thoughtful and thorough recommendations to Executive Vice President and President regarding various proposals that arise.
Periodically evaluate and adjust support contracts, maintenance, and personnel costs.
Direct cost accounting for IT services into the various entities on a fair and equitable basis.
Oversee and direct the agenda of the Finance Committee, the content and format of information presented to its physician members, and assist with developing its scope of oversite and priorities for each year.
Oversee the various partnership and LLC organization documents to ensure that they are legally compliant and reflect the actual operation of the organization.
Oversee retirement plan fiduciary activity and ERISA compliance. Serve on the Retirement Plan Committee.
Work as a partner with other members of the Medical Group Senior Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and the group's affiliates to ensure open lines of communication and positive interactions.
Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Update job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks.

Advanced knowledge of Revenue Cycle management for Medical Groups is required.
Advanced knowledge of Accounting Principles and Function, Financial Reporting.
Advanced knowledge of corporation categories, legal structures, organizational documents, and typical relationships between entities in a medical group business.
Excellent Computer and Software Knowledge is required (proficiency in Microsoft® Word, Excel, Power Point, & Access).
Fundamental knowledge of Information Technology implementation and support processes is required.
Fundamental knowledge of Radiology systems (PACS, RIS, VNA, and professional workflow) is preferred and desired.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field is required, with Master’s degree highly preferred;
Specific training or educational emphasis in Accounting and Finance is required.
Specific training or educational emphasis in Information Technology Management is desired.
Five or more years of experience in Health Care Management in a Director or Executive capacity is required.
Ten or more years of direct supervisory or management experience is required.
Superior interpersonal, verbal and writing skills to communicate with physicians, all levels of employees and outside contacts.
Excellent analytical, organizational, decision-making, problem resolution and project management skills.
