The Intake Coordinator is responsible for conversion of referrals into actual admissions. The individual manages all referrals from the time of referral to the time of actual admission. The Intake Coordinator monitors turn-around times for completing initial screenings verification of insurance benefits, and secures all necessary approvals prior to admission. The individual must document thoroughly all conversations, authorizations and information related to each referral. The Intake Coordinator documents all referrals, outcomes and time-frames. The individual establishes and maintains relationships with referral sources to facilitate referrals and smooth patient transfers.
Education /Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalent is required. Previous experience in healthcare as HMO/PPO Member Service or Provider Services representative or hospital business office is required. Medical terminology and demonstrated organizational skills necessary.
