The Clinical Nutritionist Lead (CNL) is a registered dietitian credentialed through the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR), who nutritionally assess medical-surgical and critically-ill patients admitted to Jersey City Medical Center. They are responsible for utilizing medical nutrition therapy to create a nutritional care plan for hospitalized patients that supports recovery and symptom management upon discharge. The CNL also physically assesses patients for sign of mild, moderate or severe malnutrition and provides interventions to slow or reverse the course of malnutrition. The CNL is also an active member of the interdisciplinary team that works together to provide optimal health care.
