POSITION SUMMARY: The Licensed Practical Nurse collaborates with the Registered Nurse to follow the nursing process in providing nursing care. Education of the patient is a major focus through formal lectures, informal counseling and education of the patient/family/significant support system
Has knowledge of developmental (age appropriate) factors and disability of the psychiatric population served (Adolescents, Dual Diagnosis, Adolescent General Psychiatric, Attention Deficit Disorder, and Eating Disorder).
Collaborates with the Registered Nurse to follow the nursing process in providing nursing care.
Develops long and short-term goals for patients in collaboration with interdisciplinary team.
Involves patients/family in decision-making regarding plan of care, discharge plans and/or transfer.
Collaborates with physician in treatment plan.
Provides direct patient care, demonstrating excellent technical skills and judgment.
Maintains patient safety, comfort and cleanliness when the patient is unable to do so for themselves.
Administers medications, fluids and treatments daily.
Communicates evaluations to other interdisciplinary team members and modifies plan of care as necessary.
Documents all aspects of care in accordance with Policy and Procedures.
